A power family of transformations, 𝑦 𝑥𝑘, that provides a useful approach to ‘straightening’ a single bend in the relationship between two variables. Ordering the transformations according to the exponent k gives a sequence of power transformations, which is sometimes referred to as the ladder of re-expression.
