A series of probability distributions each of which is an adaptation of one of the standard sampling distributions such as the chi squared distribution, the F distribution or Student’s t distribution for the distribution of some test statistic under the alternative hypothesis. Such distributions allow the power of the corresponding hypothesis tests to be calculated.
