A term generally used for failure to provide the relevant information being collected in a survey. Poor response can be due to a variety of causes, for example, if the topic of the survey is of an intimate nature, respondents may not care to answer particular questions. Since it is quite possible that respondents in a survey differ in some of their characteristics from those who do not respond, a large number of non respondents may introduce bias into the final results.
