Minimum Distance Probability (MDP)

A method of discriminant analysis based on a distance which can be used for continuous, discrete or mixed variables with known or unknown distributions. The method does not depend on one specific distance, so it is the investigator who has to decide the distance to be used according to the nature of the data. The method also makes use of the knowledge of prior probabilities and provides a numerical value of the confidence in the goodness of allocation of every individual studied.
